Welcome.

I’ve been making a living taking pictures and writing books and articles for the past thirty years, and have traveled through some forty countries and all fifty states while doing so. It’s been a kick.

Like most freelancers who manage to avoid meaningful full-time employment, I’ve shot for literally hundreds of clients while producing magazine and book covers, calendars, tour company and product catalogues, posters, postcards, et cetera. I have also taught the occasional outdoor photography workshop.

A quick flip through the galleries will show you travel snaps from China and Bali to Iceland and Africa (and many places between), as well as biking, hiking, kayaking and other individual outdoor sport shots I’ve taken while shooting for Patagonia, Outside Magazine, Backpacker, Adventure Cycling, Asolo, Atlas Snowshoes, Blackburn, Cannondale, Topeak, Subaru, Sierra, Vogue, Outdoor Photographer, Men’s Journal.... Google my name if, for some reason, you wish to find far more.

I have also enjoyed photographing on many continents for travel companies – Austin-Leman Adventures, Backroads, Bike Vermont, Butterfield & Robinson, GCT, OAT, VBT, DDT (I couldn’t resist the last)...plus a number of others and even some who have by now bitten the dust. I hope my pictures weren’t the reason.
